Wyvern Wrap

Spring cleaning

For once I have a week or two in between projects:  I'm waiting for a yarn delivery so I can start my next one.  In the meantime I've finally been able to do some required ripping.

Wyvern Wrap V2

28 July 005 web From pattern introduction:

A Dragon Skin of her own

Until now,  the Wyvern pattern has been lacking photos of its own sample garment, instead substituting a photo of the Dragon Skin child's sweater-- a less-than-satisfactory alternative, I admit.  No longer!  My first attempt at hiring a Test Knitter has proven a success:  not only do I now have a Wyvern in Size Small, but I have several insightful suggestions for improving the clarity and knitter-friendliness of the pattern (thanks, Terry!).  Happily, I have no further errata to report, but I have already modified the pattern text slightly, and as soon as I can get some modeled photos, I will be emailing an updated version of the pattern to all those who have previously purchased it.

Deflating the ol' ego

I hadn't heard from many knitters about errors in my patterns, and so I have to admit I was feeling rather smug about my proofreading and tech editing abilities.  As it turns out, what probably was happening was that many knitters purchased one of my patterns, and then after some period of time-- finding the right yarn, finishing up other projects, etc.-- actually started knitting from it!

Wyvern Wrap errata and updates

For those who purchased this pattern before today (2/16/08), I've put all pattern corrections and clarifications into a pdf file that can be easily printed (just click on the link below).  Patterns purchased from 2/16 on already have these incorporated into the text.  I suppose I could go on about lessons learned from rushing a pattern to publication...but I will just add this:  if any purchaser of this or any other of my patterns finds an error and is the first to notify me, I will email them any one of my patterns they choose, free of charge. Progress on Wyvern

15_feb_003_webNow that I've completed several deadline projects, I can get back to work on Wyvern.   I've finished both fronts and joined them to start on the back.  I finished the right front first and blocked it to make sure my gauge was on, b

The hats that didn't happen

2_jan I had reluctantly decided not to bring my Wyvern Wrap along during our various holiday junkets, reasoning that a cashmere-blend sweater was not ideal travel-- (nor warm weather) knitting.  Instead I brought a

Yarn deliveries

23_nov_001_web I've had several yarn deliveries in the past week.  The RYC Cashsoft has arrived and when I have a moment, I'll try to figure out how to work one or both colors into my Wyvern Wrap.  The other yarn?  Doesn't look like much, I know

Hurry up and wait

After finding out last week that Interweave Knits accepted a couple of my design proposals for their Summer 2008 issue, AND that I have about 6 weeks to knit both samples and write up the patterns, I realized that I had better get a move on to have any hope of finishing my Wyvern Wrap before the yarn for the IK samples arrives.  So knit away I did...and it became quite clear after I finish
