The Summer 2009 issue of Twist Collective just went live, and it contains my first men's pattern, a sleeveless vest which the TC staff creatively named Laredo. (My name for it was "Twisted Diamond Men's Vest," not nearly as catchy!) I'm planning to do a blog post about the design process for Laredo, but in the meantime, here's a photo of me modeling it-- not bad, secondo me! The yarn, Valley Yarns Goshen, is a cotton/modal/silk blend, which makes the vest wearable just about all-year-round. I'm really looking forward to getting the sample back so I can wear it myself (it's a little too small for the husband anyway). Unfortunately I don't think I'll be getting it back this summer, because I think it would look great over a tank top or T-shirt and white bermuda shorts....
The Vespa Hat is a fun, quick project-- and fun to wear, with earflaps to keep your ears warm, a loose fit to prevent the dreaded "hat head," and an optional ponytail hole. Ear flaps and back of neck are worked flat; after front stitches are cast on, hat is worked in the round. See more patterns
