Edited on 6/13/11 to add: I am not Hansi Singh!! I am not the designer of the Cuttlefish pattern, so please do not email me with questions about it or any of her other patterns. Sorry, but I do not know how to contact her, except on Ravelry.com, where her user name is hansigurumi.
The photographs in this pattern are key to figuring out what you are supposed to do-- study them closely!
Note that when designer refers to "left" and "right" arms and tentacles, she means your left and right if you are looking at the front of the cuttlefish-- not the creature's left and right. This is also true later in the pattern, when she refers to the "top, left," "top, right," "bottom, right" and "bottom, left" of the mantle.
Under "Arm and Tentacle Assembly," pattern should read "pick up a total of 34 sts," not 32 sts (caption under photo is correct). Also, when decreasing sts picked up from the underside of the assembly, after Round 4 decreases there are 26 sts rem, not 20 (end rnd k2). After Round 6 decreases there are 13 sts rem, not 10. After Round 8 decreases there are 8 sts rem, not 6 (end rnd k2tog, k1). No big deal-- you can simply thread yarn thru rem 8 instead of 6 sts.
I found that the ends of the pipe cleaners tend to work their way out thru the arm and tentacle tips, even though I tried to stitch the tips tightly closed with the yarn tails. The pipe cleaners are easy to replace by pulling the arm fabric gently over the ends, but if the cuttlefish is meant for a small child, definitely skip the pipe cleaners. If I made another cuttlefish, I would try leaving a small loop at the end of the pipe cleaner when I folded it in half, and maybe even try to put a stitch right thru the loop to hold it in place 1/4" or so from the arm tip, when weaving in the yarn tails.
Finally, there were a couple of places during working of short rows where the directions took me all the way to the end of the row; I didn't take notes on exactly where this occurred in the pattern, but when this happened, I just turned the work and proceeded without wrapping a stitch (since there wasn't a stitch to wrap!). This did not seem to create any problems with the rest of the pattern or in the finished product.
