LYS in Parma, Italy

Mar_31_005_webA couple of weekends ago we took a little trip to Parma, ostensibly for my son's baseball tournament, but really, unbeknowst to my family, it was all a ploy to find a certain LYS that Connie had spotted.  Well, I don't know if this is the same store, but when I asked at our hotel for a "negozio dei filati," this is the one the concierge suggested, on Via Mazzini.  And it was a pretty good one, so in celebration of the find, I bought some Egyptian cotton yarn, a brand I'd never heard of--Ormaghi Filati Red Dune--in a grassy green, and some Filatura di Crosa Brillante, a cotton/viscose blend, in a light, subdued gold.  As you can see, I wasn't the only one to be drawn in by the shop window display.

Unfortunately those yarns went straight Mar_31_019_web into the stash, because I just received this yarn in the mail--a lovely bamboo/merino wool blend.  The photo doesn't really do it justice; in real life it's less blue, more palest violet, with a subtle silvery sheen.  More like the color of the blossoms on the wisteria I spotted the other day.  How old is a wisteria vine, if the trunk is nearly a foot in diameter?!  And yes, this yarn is destined to become my next project for Interweave Knits, so I'd better get to work!Mar_31_017_web

I LOVE wisteria!!! It grows here and there in DC, but there's no such thing as too much, in my opinion. Honesty time: I've been reading your blog for about a year, and have to tell you how completely envious I am! Italy...How wonderful. Do you love it?
Typically a lurker....couldn't pass up the chance to say I love the shot of the LYS. Italy is amazing....you are so lucky to be living there!! Enjoy the spoils of your recent adventure.....
Ooh, your photo of wisteria has me longing to smell the dizzying scent of its flowers -- there is no lovelier floral scent, in my opinion. The color ain't bad, either. :) Enjoy that beautiful yarn!
What a great shop. I aspire to deceiving my family into yarn trip vacations :-)I have wisteria on the brain too. Just posted a Tiffany window!
That is the yarn shop! Although it looks like they changed their window display a bit since I saw it. I'm glad you found it.Can't wait to see what you have in store for us (i.e. the Interweave Knits project). Which issue is this going to be in?

That is the most beautiful wisteria I have ever seen! I love the shot of the LYS.

You are welcome to use the photo and what I've written above about the shop, as long as it's dated the same as the blog entry, but since it's been over 4 years since I've been there, I don't think it's appropriate for me to write a current review.
