Chinese Lace Pullover, V2*

5_oct_010_crop_2 I had been planning to update this pattern to add directions for working it in the round.  Of course, once I started going over the pattern, I decided that certain portions--notably the directions for the neckband--could be made clearer.  The neckband continues the 7/2 ribbing of the body, and with this rather large repeat of 9 stitches, required some fancy footwork with the upper body numbers to make it work smoothly (and consequently, for 3 sizes, some minor changes had to be made to the overall sweater length, mostly occurring between bust and shoulder--1/2 inch for size L, 1 inch for size 3X, and 1 1/2 inches for size 1X).  While I was at it, I updated the yarn substitution suggestions, and added some additional garment measurements:  sleeve circumference at the upper arm, and length from underarm to hem.

Here are some of the pertinent facts:

Garment measurements can be found on the product page

MATERIALS

YARN SUBSTITUTIONS
Some possibilities (try at your own risk!):Dale of Norway Svale (cotton/viscose/silk); Classic Elite Premiere (cotton/Tencel); Frog Tree Pima Silk (cotton/silk); Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (wool/microfiber/cashmere); Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool (wool/silk)Approx. yds/m required:  1050/960 [1150/1050, 1250/1140, 1350/1230, 1475/1340, 1600/1460] yds/m.

GAUGE
22.5 sts / 30 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm on US size 5 needles in lace patt stitch; 23 sts/ 30 rows to 4 in / 10 cm. in rib patt st (7/2), slightly stretched.  CHECK GAUGE ON BLOCKED SWATCH.

PATTERN NOTES
Note that waist is 7 to 7.5 inches smaller than bust and hips.  Recommend going up one size if the waist is too small in your usual size; even if ease is greater at bust and hips than you would normally wish, the ribbing tends to contract and creates a form-following fit, so the sweater will not be as loose as the same-sized garment in stockinette.
